Trabant was a car manufacturer in formal DDR (Deutsche Democratic Republic) also known as GDR (German Democratic Republic) or “East Germany”.
The Kübelwagen (short for Kübelsitzwagen, meaning bucket-seat car) name was used as a designation for a light vechicle that was widely used by Nazi German armed forces during WW II. Trabant produced a cabrio military version of its famous car. It was knows as Kubel.
