Nissan debuted the Ford Focus-size Qashqai (say Kash-kai) compact crossover 5-door SUV in Paris in September 2006.  This car was designed virtually from the ground up by Nissan Design Europe in London with engineering development led by Nissan Technical Centre Europe in Cranfield, Bedfordshire.  It manufactured at Nissan’s UK facility atn NMUK Sunderland since December 2006.  This is the first European vehicle built on the Nissan/Renault Alliance “C” Platform.

For less than a year Nissan sold about 100,000 Qashqai in Europe. It is going to be exported to the Middle East and additional overseas market.  No word on the export on the US market yet.
