BMW Z4 went into production in 2002 as the replacement of BMW Z3. The design addressed many criticism of the Z3. The car is larger and has stiffer chassis, it has the same engine as Z3. Originally the car was available as Roadster only, but in 2006 a Coupe version (E86) was officially launched. The car was designed by Chris Bangle and originally some what controversial. Some criticized its aggressive styling choices. But as of 2007 the entire BMW car line had incorporated Chris Bangle’s design theme. Four engines are available for Z4, though on the US market only three are available. The 2.2 L / 170bhp, 2.5 L / 192 bhp, 3.0 L / 231 bhp and 3.2 L 330 bhp. Fife-speed manual transmission is standard on all but 3.0 L and M Roadster, which has 6-speed GETRAG and 5-speed automatic are available on all but M cars. The M Roadster shares 6-speed manual transmission with the M3. Sport Package is available. In 2006 Z4 get new BMW N52 L-6 engine. This advance engine is more powerful, much lighter and has improved fuel consumption, its lighter weight also improves car handling. Z4 M Roadster and Z4 M Coupe were introduced in 2006. Some automobile critics call BMW Z4 as one of the more intriguing sports cars currently available. Current BMW Z4 (2008 model year) priced in the range $36,127 - $42,138.00
ABOUT THE MODEL MAKER
Norev is French based company (but no surprise current models are made in China) that produced 1/43 scale models for few decades. The company started as a toy company in 1946 and their first series of 1/43 scale plastic models was introduced in 1953. Up to 1994 Norev introduced different lines with the most popular one was “Jet-Cars” that appeared in early ‘70s and featured good castings for the time. Unfortunately by late 70’s operational features and detailed wheels were phase out. It is believed that from 1994 Norev didn’t produce new models ant in late 90’s many believed that the company was out of business. However recently the brand reappeared on the market with fast growing line of highly detailed models that are very competitive if not better to famous M_inichamps brand. In fact this brand retails at higher price compare to its famous competitor.
Packaging is attractive and consisted of a display case packed in outer carton sleeve. Models attached with a screw to a display case base, which has the model name printed on it. Display packed in a high quality glossy carton sleeve that designed for a specific model and have different picture outside and on inserts. Design includes the car manufacturer logo, picture of the car etc. Models display great!
As a collector I would award very high score to this line of models and recommend it to fellow collectors who are looking for a high end products.
