ABOUT THE MODEL MAKER

C.D.C. s.r.l. of Milano, Italy debuted in 1992 with its die cast 1/43 scale line of car models – “Detail Cars”.  Unlike most other Italian modelmakers that keep production in Italy the company done its production in China.  Car models were very well detailed and quality wise were among the best at the time.  The line quality/price combination definitely raised the standard and pushed do their competitors.  It is safe to say that they are in a range of popular Mini_champs series, but yet were relatively inexpensive.  For a few years the company had a distribution agreement with C_orgi and R_ewell, therefore some of their models have logos of these companies on a its packaging. Few years later the company introduced military line of die cast models the “Armour” series that became a trade mark for the company.  The series was divided in three lines 1/72 scale military vehicles and two lines of aircrafts presented in 1/100 and 1/48 scales.   The great success of the Armour series planes overshadowed car models and 1/72 scale vehicles lines that were discontinued at late 90’s (I believe in 1998) due to lack of production capacity in order to satisfy very high demand on their highly popular and I assume very profitable aircraft models.  Most tanks and a couple of car models castings were sold to Matchbox and released as a small part in its Limited Edition Collectors Series, which in turn was discontinued in early 00’s.  Upon lines liquidation, remaining inventory of selective cars models was damped on the market via liquidators that seriously devaluated market price of Detail Cars models.  However by now many models from this line sold at a premium price, including some of those that a couple years ago were available just about 1/3 of its current price, and difficult to find.

As I’ve sad I believe that most products from the line will not yield in quality competition to Mini_champs products, models are very well detailed, great paint job quality, some models featured opening doors.  Packaging consisted of a display case packed in a carton sleeve.  Some models were released with a larger compare to the usual size display case.
