The Mercedes-Benz 600 is a very large ultra luxury automobile built by Mercedes from 1965 to 1981. The car was introduced in 1963 but it took two year before it entered into production, which continued until 1991; however most styles built through 1972 with modest production after that. W100 was available in four models type: 600, Grosser, Pullman and Landaulet. As pre-WW II Mercedes 770K the 600 was designed as the ultimate luxury car and incorporated the best technology available for automobile engineering. The car had central hydraulic system that powered windows, seats, automatic closing doors. Well, not noticable now but for its time it was wery impressive option - power antena that will go up and down accordingly with on /off switch of the radio.
Powered by the ‘M100’, specially developed for this car, first V8 produced for Mercedes, a massive 6.3 L (386.3 cu in) V8 with overhead camshafts and Bosh mechanical fuel injection. The engine produced 300 hp @ 4,100 rpm and torque of 434 ft. lbs @ 3,000 rpm this huge car had a max speed of approximately 127 mph and had 13 ml per 1 gallon at 68 mph. Adjusted air suspension provided smooth ride and good handling over practically any road surface.
Over the production cycle only 2,677 cars of all types were manufactured. This model represents 600 a 4 door sedan on a short (Kurz) wheelbase (SWB). A “Kurz” with a power window separating front seat from the rear bench was available. Pullman – long wheelbase (LWB) 4 and 6 door sedans were available and some number of Landaulets (Pullman with a convertible top over the rear of the passenger compartment were built before 1971. The target market Head of state and captains of industry.
Cars were produced by special order; all hand built at a special facility by only highly skilled, long time Mercedes craftsmen.
The base price of swb 600 was $20,500 and lwb Pulman started from 23,500 w/AC not included in the price and cost additional $1,766
After the production of 600 stopped in 1981 a few more Mercedes were called 600 and enlarged up to 6.9 L the M100 engine was used on some Mercedes cars. Though very good cars they can’t considered as 600 Grosser successors. For over three decades Mercedes line had nothing like 600 Grosser until introduction of Maybach 57 (SWB) and 62 (LWB).

Since 2001 after V_itesse G_roup declared bankruptcy the model maker that produced a large part of V_itesse’s models, in particular under S_kid, O_nyx, 2_-Wheels and some V_itesse badge models created its own brand now know as ixo-MODELS.
Ixo always produced good quality models that are competitive to famous M_inichamps brand, but with their many newest models released in 2006 they show that they are capable of producing equal or even greater quality models to its major competitor while keeping lower price (on SRP is approximately 1/3 less and on retail level even less) without sacrifice in quality. Latest 2006 ixo release of Mercedes cars just brilliant!
