RARE, Difficult to find one, retails up to 24 UK Pounds (aprx. $46 May 2005), SOLD OUT – no longer available from the manufacturer.

Limited stock on hand.

Condition is NEW (straight from the manufacturer master shipper box).

This particular model was second issue of this new casting and currently appears to be the most expensive one among all Corgi DC27 issued so far; retails up to 23 UK Pounds (aprx. $44.00 as of May 2005).

The model is well detailed and displays great!  It is a very stylish vehicle indeed.

The model is a part of the popular Corgi UK Series “nine DOUBLE nine” (999 is emergency call number as 911 in the US).  Models from this series aren’t available for the distribution on the US market.  Some models are available for special orders that could be place in about two week period upon semi year UK catalog release, but the orders aren’t guarantied for a delivery.  Bottom line it is very difficult and very expensive to get models from Corgi UK lines here on the US market.

Corgi says: “The Daimler DC27 first appeared in 1949, bodied by Barker & Company Coachbuilders and went on to become the classic ambulance of the 1950’s.  Due to the shortage of suitable chassis after the war, Daimler decided to produce a special ambulance chassis and collaborated with the various municipal and medical authorities to produce this stylish vehicle.  499 of these vehicles were built with the majority going to London and although most were bodied by Backer, a number received bodies by Hooper.  Constructed with an ash framework, these ambulances offered a smooth, stable ride although fuel consumption was high at only 8.5 miles per gallon.  The DC27 continued to be used in service until well into the 60’s and number have been restored and can be seen today.”
