This is a really nice model. I’ve compared it to the model of the same car by M_inichamps. Well it is virtually the same quality model but one from Minichamps has chrome effect on its rear mirrors, front fenders trim and grill, while on maxi car these parts are painted silver. Both models have unusual feature – some level of underbody parts details (suspension, exhaust, power train parts) on their bases. I like M_inichamps better (though can’t say with one more accurate). In other hand lower rear red lights on Minichamps are paint strips but are parts on maxi car. Well I will put it in this way, since I already have M_inichamps’ one in my collection I will keep it. Should I make this decision now at a store I will go with one by maxi car. Event at MSRP level you saved 1/3 but you’ve got very strong competitor that is “crossing a finish line at the same time by just maybe a quarter body length behind”. At this price you can have two other BMW models that are also very competitive in quality models at a price of one by M_inichamps.
‘Maxicar’ is (was) registered trademark owned by Golden Dragon Group, Macau. Models made in China.
The company appeared suddenly in early 00’s, I believe it was 2002 and disappeared within a year or two. I strongly believe that for the models appeared under “maxi car” brand old Vitesse tollings were used. They say that European based retailer that ordered the line filed for bankruptcy and most manufactured models was not even delivered to them. The brand had a website that now is “unavailable”.
Models are of good quality indeed, and taking in consideration current low price on these models it is a pure bargain. With this quality/price combination it is easy to make a decision to add maxi car models to your collection. If you care about quality and appearance of a model but not a brand name that can be seeing on a model base plate these models are perfect deal. It looks like ‘maxi car’ models could be welcome addition to an advance collection but simply a must for beginners.
