Corgi released this great model in 2001; the manufacturer sold out this specific model many years ago. Now most Corgi dealers are “Sold Out” too; it is very difficult to find model. I was cleaning my warehouse for the 2007-year end sale and found a few large boxes with Corgi 1/144 scale planes models released in 1999-2002 and among it a couple of British Airways models. So here is a blast from the past.
ABOUT THE PLANE
“N18709 was a Boeing 707-3331B delivered new to Trans World Airlines on May 21st 1966 and served TWA well until being sold to Israeli airline, EL AL on April 22nd 1982, becoming 4X-ATD. This Boeing 707 Transcontinental Jetliner was sold again on January 26th 1989 to Harland Power Systems, Inc as N707HP as an executive transport, but this ownership was short-lived as the Boeing Airplane Company bought it back in September 1989 for spares use in the military KC-135E conversion program. Consequently, this aircraft was broken up at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base in Arizona.”
The Aviation Archive Series
“From the days when the skies were the new frontiers, the Aviation Archive charts the history of flight, commemorating significant military and civil aircraft and events from the early pioneering years to the present day.
Using original plans and rare archive material, each aircraft and livery has been carefully researched and authenticated to bring the aviation enthusiast the finest range of collectable die cast models. Crafted with meticulous attention to detail, the models feature rubber tires, interchangeable undercarriage, rotating propellers where applicable and high quality printed livery details. Beautifully packaged, each replica comes with a display stand, and two sets of landing gear (gear up and gear down).”
ABOUT THE MODEL,
It is a beautiful model indeed, with attention to small details; clear, sharp, historically accurate imprints (NO DECALS). Came with landing gears, TWA stairs and heavy duty stand.
Packed in attractive box, that is very useful if you would like to make it a present.
