The model displays great!

The model is a part of the popular Corgi UK Series “nine DOUBLE nine” (999 is emergency call number as 911 in the US).  Models from this series aren’t available for the distribution on the US market.  Some models are available for special orders that could be place in about two week period upon semi year UK catalog release, but the orders aren’t guarantied for a delivery.  Bottom line it is very difficult and very expensive to get models from Corgi UK lines here on the US market.

CORGI Says:  “AEC started producing chassis for fire fighting vehicles after the Second World War.  The launch of the AEC mercury Ergomatic provided the fire engines builders with a cab, chassis and power unit ideal for such vehicles.  All types of fire vehicles including Water Ladders, Pump Ladders, Pump Escapes, Emergency Tenders, Turntable Ladders and Hydraulic Platforms were built on the AEC Chassis.

Leicester City Fire Brigade purchased five AEC Mercury Ergomatic Fire Appliances between 1967 and 1972, the first being coachbuilt by Merryweather of Greenwich and the other four being built by HCB-Angus of Southampton.  Four of the appliances operated as Water Ladders and one operates as a Water Tender, all five being transferred at the time of the council reorganizations in 1974 to Leicestershire Fire Services.”
