This particular model was second issue of this new Corgi model. Appeared to be based on Vanguard casting.
The model is well detailed and displays great!
The model is a part of the popular Corgi UK Series “nine DOUBLE nine” (999 is emergency call number as 911 in the US). Models from this series aren’t available for the distribution on the US market. Some models are available for special orders that could be place in about two week period upon semi year UK catalog release, but the orders aren’t guarantied for a delivery. Bottom line it is very difficult and very expensive to get models from Corgi UK lines here on the US market.
Corgi says: “The Ford Transit, a successor to the Ford Thames 15cwt van was used over the years by fire brigades for a variety of tasks including general purpose, canteen vans, breathing apparatus tenders, salvage tenders, control units, pumps, rescue tenders and emergency tenders. Somerset fire Brigade purchased JYD 527K in 1972. The Brigade then became part of Avon Fire Brigade after the 1974 Local Government Boundary changes. This distinctive liveried vehicle, operating out of Weston Super Mare, attended Road Traffic Accident as Well as other incidents requiring the rescue equipment carried. It was a familiar sight at accidents on the nearby M5 motorway. This vehicle was taken out to service in 1980.”
