This beautiful collection consists of six famous British Vintage lorries (trucks) presented in famous truck companies’ liveries.  Each model comes with a cold cast load and a metal model of famous Leyland Clocks*.  Models are packed in a large attractive box with a window that reveals a clock model.

Models from this series became difficult to find and it is virtually impossible to get it from one place.


Passage Of Time, a very special collection of completely authentic 1:50 scale classic Road Transport models, each with its own individually designed cold cast load represents the cream of British Haulage. These famous Companies, past and present are renowned for their immaculately kept fleets and superb liveries

The Leyland Clocks
The idea of clocks advertising Leyland Motors on the main trunk roads was a coup for Leyland. The first clock appeared in 1930 and there are believed to have been seven altogether plus a replica in South Africa. The towers were designed by Franco Reflex Signs of London and the mechanism by William Potts and Sons Limited, clockmakers of Leeds. Although some survived in preservation, the whereabouts of the others remain a mystery

CG 09804 ERF V Platform Lorry with Machinery Load and Hook Clock - W Holden (Rossendale Transport Ltd)
Released: 10/2000
William Holden established his transport Company on the eve of World War II and his wartime slogan which graced the front of his lorries often led to the Company being referred to as 'Keep Smiling' of Rawtenstall. In the late 40s Holden's transported machinery to Liverpool Docks for export to developing countries.

 

CG 23702 Leyland (LAD) Octopus Platform Lorry with Steel Bar Load and Lostock Hall Clock - T Brady and Sons Ltd
Released: 9/2000
T Brady and Sons Ltd began in 1921 with a horse and cart and later became one of the best-known haulers in the industry. Based in Barrow-in-Furness, by the late 60s the Company was running 160 lorries and operating into Europe.

 

CG 24503 Leyland Octopus Platform Lorry with Vats and Cape Town Clock - Walter Southworth Ltd
Corgi Classics 11/2000
It was in 1910 that 20 year old produce merchant Walter Southworth bough a horse and cart to take his produce to Preston market. He bough his first motor lorry in 1918 and by the mid 30s had a fleet of Leyland lorries. Adverse trading conditions in the 80s led to the Company's closure in April 1989.

 

CG 26403 AEC MkV Mammoth Major Platform Lorry with Wool Bale Load and Shap Memorial - Henry Long Ltd

*Unlike other models from this series this one instead of a Leyland Clock comes with a model of the Shap memorial. This memorial stands on Shap Fell in Lancashire and comemerates the drivers that  regularly negotiated this difficult route and the local people who gave shelter and assistance to stranded travellers, in bad weather. All this, prior to the opening of the M6 Motorway.  
Established in 1930, this famous Bradford haulage Company built up a fleet of 17 lorries by 1949 when it was nationalized, becoming BRS unit D158. After de-nationalization it was reformed and by the mid 60s was operating 94 lorries regularly hauling baled wool and textiles, mainly between West Yorkshire and Merseyside.

CG 29105 Guy Invincible Platform Lorry with Fruit Box Load and Shap Clock - W H Bowker Ltd
Released: 11/2000
One of Lancashire's best-known haulers, W H Bowker's history dates back to 1919. During the 50s, fruit was the main traffic but in the early 60s Bowker's became one of the first British haulers to offer an UK/European service. In 1989 the Company moved from Blackburn to Preston and today operates a modern fleet of 150 trucks and 350 trailers specializing in international haulage.
